FAQs

Good to know

The questions we get asked most, answered honestly.

Still have a question?

Get in touch
What is a burp cloth?

A burp cloth goes over your shoulder (or under bub) while you feed and wind, catching the spits, spills and dribbles before they reach your clothes.

What size are the burp cloths?

Each burp cloth measures 57 × 25cm. They're handmade, so size and pattern placement can vary slightly, which makes every cloth one of a kind.

What are the burp cloths and bibs made from?
  • Print side: 95% cotton, 5% spandex
  • Cloth side: 100% cotton terry towelling

Designed in Australia, exclusively for Smitten Bub Co.

Why are the burp cloths so absorbent?

We use the thickest, highest quality terry towelling we can find, so they soak up spills fast and stay soft on delicate skin. A must-have for bubs with colic and reflux. They get softer and more absorbent with every wash.

Are the burp cloths suitable for newborns?

Yes. They're made from thick, soft terry towelling that's gentle on newborn and sensitive skin.

What can I use a burp cloth for?

They quickly become one of those essentials you wonder how you lived without:

  • Feeding and winding
  • Catching spits and milk dribbles
  • Wiping little mouths and hands
  • A quick change mat or modesty cover while feeding
  • A nappy bag must-have when you're out and about
How many burp cloths do I need?

Most mums reach for 3 to 6 burp cloths a day in the newborn stage. Having a few on hand means fewer outfit changes (for both of you) and less washing.

How do I wash the burp cloths and bibs?

Machine wash on a cold or gentle wash (no hotter than 30°) with like colours, then line dry when you can. Avoid tumble drying.

Skip the fabric softener, as it reduces the absorbency of the terry backing.

Is this a good gift for a new mum?

Absolutely. These are the baby essentials new mums actually reach for every day, in prints that feel a little bit special. Not sure what to choose? Our gift bundles take the guesswork out.

Why so many dog prints?

For lots of mums, their dog was their first baby. Our dog prints celebrate that bond, so your fur baby and your new baby get to match.

How much is shipping?

Here's how shipping works within Australia:

  • Standard: FREE on orders over $120, or a flat $11.95 under that. Delivered in 1 to 5 business days.
  • Australia Post Express: $16.95. Delivered in 1 to 3 business days.
  • Skip the Queue Express: $20.95. Guaranteed next business day dispatch, then delivered in 1 to 4 business days depending on where you are.

Delivery times are estimates and depend on your location. We ship worldwide too, with postage worked out at checkout. See all shipping details.

How quickly will my order arrive?

We pack and send orders from Brisbane every business day, and most leave us within 2 business days (allow up to 3 during busy sale periods). Orders placed after 10am Friday are sent the following Monday.

Need it urgently? Choose Skip the Queue at checkout and your order is sent the next business day. You'll get tracking details by email as soon as it's on its way.

What is your returns policy?

You have 30 days from shipping to request a return or exchange. Full-price items can be refunded within 14 days of shipping, and after that we offer store credit. Sale items, bundles and orders that used a discount code can be exchanged or swapped for store credit.

Items need to be unused and in their original packaging. To start a return, email hello@smittenbubco.com. Read our full returns policy.
